There are so many magical things about photographing children. They don’t sit still & they don’t smile when asked. They’re fascinated by the littlest things and watching what interests them at that very second is so captivating. Lila was magical for a few reasons. First, she loved the flowers or I should say, loved picking the flowers. I’m sure the maintenance crew was not happy with the amount of picking that took place, but I was able to capture the most natural photos while she picked away! Second was Lila’s tow truck Mater. She was so busy dashing me serious looks that only models could dream about pulling off until Mom pulled Mater out of her purse. I got a smile! It will take a few years for Lila to understand the last magical moment about this photo shoot, but her mom arrived with meaning, she wanted Lila’s photo session to be at the very same spot where she was married. Before Lila was even a glimmer in her mom & dad’s eyes, they took their first pictures as husband on wife on the very same bench where I photographed Lila.
There are no rules to a successful photo session, but allowing your kids to be kids plays such a massive part with achieving some amazing photos. For me, I just sat back and watched Mom and Grandma run around chasing Lila and trying anything to get her to smile. (really all they needed was Mater).
